We suggest staying in Invercargill.
Will we get to go around the whole island?
This is dependent on the duration of your trip, we recommend a week on board if this is on your bucket list.
What time of the year is the best time to go?
Stewart Island is At latitude 47 degrees south (the "Roaring Forties") where the weather is often unpredictable, but the climate is surprisingly temperate with summer temperatures climbing to the mid-20's. Sunshine hours are equal to the national average, and while it may be true that it rains on a higher number of days, our annual rainfall is less than that of Auckland. Spring, with its bursts of colour and promise of longer days, is earlier than the rest of Southland. Winters are milder and calmer than those experienced on the mainland.

Not likely. We spend most of our time in sheltered waters. If we do go out to the open sea we only go on a calm day with hardly any swell. We do have seasickness tablets available for emergencies and if you are doing a coastal trip we do suggest if you get seasick to bring in some tablets or what you prefer to use with you.
