How do we get to Te Anau?
We suggest flying in to either Queenstown or Invercargill if you are flying down. We can help with organizing Transport from the Airport to Te Anau and another option is Tracknet who can provide Transport options too. We always suggest staying in Te Anau the night before just incase we need to change your flight in.
If travelling by car we suggest using google maps to find the best route to suit you and suggest staying in Te Anau the night before just incase we need to change your flight in.
Where do we get the Helicopter from?
We use Te Anau Helicopter services located at Te Anau - Manapouri Airport, Aviation Drive, Manapouri. We use Squirrels for all flights and Flight times are 25 minutes to Dusky Sound and 35 minutes to Chalky Inlet.
How do we get Stewart Island?
We suggest flying into either Queenstown or Invercargill if you are flying down. We arrange Transport from Invercargill to Stewart Island by either Flight or Ferry for your Trip.
What time of the year is the best time to go?
Fiordland National Park is a temperate rainforest. Moderate temperatures and high levels of rainfall are important characteristics of temperate rainforests. Anytime of the year you can get up to 4 seasons in on day in Fiordland. Summer is great for Longer days, Spring is when the flora & Fauna can into bloom as well as the local wildlife, Autumn is great for the Hunters after some fresh Venison and Winter is great for Calm days and great for any keen photographers.
Stewart Island is At latitude 47 degrees south (the "Roaring Forties") where the weather is often unpredictable, but the climate is surprisingly temperate with summer temperatures climbing to the mid-20's. Sunshine hours are equal to the national average, and while it may be true that it rains on a higher number of days, our annual rainfall is less than that of Auckland. Spring, with its bursts of colour and promise of longer days, is earlier than the rest of Southland. Winters are milder and calmer than those experienced on the mainland.
What equipment is on Board?
On Board we have 10 x Dive Tanks, Air Compressor (Unlimited Refills of Tanks), 2 X Tenders (1 Inflatable & 1 Fibreglass), Weight Belts, 4 Kayaks, Fishing Rods, Craypots, Statellite Phone (Emergency Use Only) and Handheld Radios. We have plenty of Life Jackets and safety Equipment onboard as required by Maritime New Zealand.
What is provided in the Trip?
All food is provided while on board with 3 x Meals a day which will include the catch of the day. We also have snacks throughout the day and have a fresh fruit bowl and cookie jar available at all times.
Drinks we provide while onboard is Tea, coffee and milo with also fruit juice and water available.
Bedding is included which includes pillows, duvet and sheets. We have extra blankets and pillows available.
Towels and facecloths are provided.
What are the facilities on the Cindy Hardy?
The Cindy Hardy is 23.9 Meters and has 5 bedrooms available (3 have 1 X Single & 1 X Double, 2 Have 3 X Single and 1 Double). All bedrooms have a Shower and Toilet en-suite with 1 main Toilet available in the Main Saloon. There are 2 Dining Table/Lounge Areas. It has a drying room available for wet jackets or clothing.

Will I get seasick?
Not likely. We spend most of our time in internal waters so it is very calm water. If we do go out to sea we only got on calm day with hardly any swell. We do have seasickness tablets available for emergencies and if you are doing a coastal trip we do suggest if you get seasick to bring in some tablets or what you prefer to use with you.
What do I need to bring?
We have a checklist we will provide to you 3 months prior to your Trip with everything you need to bring with you.
How do we get alcohol onboard?
All Alcohol is ordered through a supplier in Invercargill where we pick it up and put it on the Boat before your trip. We do this as a complimentary service and this means that it doesn't take out of you baggage allowance for Helicopter flights or plane flights.
